PHILIPPIANS 4:8-9
HOW CHRIST
THINK?
8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble,
whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever
is admirable –if anything is excellent or praiseworthy –think
about such things.

9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or


seen in me –put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with
you.
A. What Paul IS Teaching?

truths of scripture.
1. THINK ON WHATEVER IS TRUE

TRUE –denotes to the actuality of a thing.


- Corresponds to reality

JOHN 3:33 “GOD IS TRUE”


“GOD HIMSELF IS THE
ONLY FINAL TEST FOR
TRUTH”
2. THINK ON WHATEVER IS NOBLE
NOBLE –means worthy of respect; dignified

“for kings and all those in authority, that we may


live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and
holiness.”
1 Timothy 2:2
3. THINK ON WHATEVER IS RIGHT

“ GOD HIMSELF IS RIGHTEOUS”


7 Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. He who
does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous.
8 He who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil
has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of
God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.
1 John 3:7-8
4. THINK ON WHATEVER IS PURE

PURE –keeping the bodies undefiled by abstaining from


sins.
3 But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or any kind
of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people.
4 Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of
place, but rather thanksgiving.
5 For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a man
is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
Ephesians 5:3-5
5. THINK ON WHATEVER IS LOVELY

LOVELY –pleasing and attractive.

“Jesus Christ is inherently lovely, and so we should think


often on our lovely savior, who gave himself for us on
the cross.”
5. THINK ON WHATEVER IS OF GOOD
REPUTE
GOOD REPUTE – to speak well of something.

“Paul says in Corinthians 13, love believes the best about


another person, it refuses to believe an evil report about a
brother or sister until there is certain evidence to
establish it.”
B. HOW TO OBEY WHAT PAUL IS
TEACHING?

WE MUST CONTROL WHAT COMES INTO
OUR MIND

“Watch over your heart with all


diligence, for from it flow the springs of
life”
Proverbs 4:23
