CHARITY

WEEK 36 VALUE FOCUS

Who needs charity? In our daily lives, we meet people from
diverse backgrounds and with various needs. Charity typically
goes to the poor, orphans, and those unable to improve their
living conditions. But it also extends to those seeking
compassion and understanding for their difficulties. As
Bukhari said, even a smile, helping remove obstacles from
people's paths, or guiding a lost soul is charity. It's about
loving our neighbors as ourselves, fulfilling God's
commandment.
Charity can challenge us to love our neighbors
more than ourselves. Are we willing to
sacrifice? Do we hesitate if it inconveniences
us? Mother Teresa's life exemplifies charity. She
became a light for the underprivileged, guided
by the Scriptures' message to help the needy as
if helping God.
Gautama Buddha urges us to cultivate
compassion, leading to natural acts of
sacrifice. Giving until it feels right rewards
us with lasting treasures like peace, joy, and
fulfillment.
Action Plan
 Declutter our closets and give away those extra sneakers,
those clean shirts and jeans you have to let go, then find a
shelter for distribution.
Resolve within yourself to share to others the blessings you
have been receiving, especially to those who are in need.
 Be an ear to those who wants to be heard, a warm
shoulder for those who mourn and be a source of strength
for those who are weak and discouraged. Give them your
time as a form of charity.
 Sign up for a cause. What are the advocacy/ies close to
our hearts and are accessible for us to become part of?
 Initiate or organize corporate activities that will encourage
others to practice charity and compassion
Declaration
We are compassionate and we find joy in expressing charity
to everyone who are in need. We are abounding in love and
we have so much to give to others. Whatever we have
received freely, we freely give. Words of encouragement and
words of life, we will gladly share to the people around us.
We acknowledge that we are more than blessed and we can
be a blessing to others. Life in charity is no sacrifice at all
because the more we give, the more we receive
Prayer
Almighty Father, we thank You for pouring out and
demonstrating Your charity to us and for teaching us to love
our neighbors as we love ourselves. It is our desire to learn
and be trained by You to love others even more than
ourselves. Give us the grace and capacity for this to be
fulfilled in our lives so we can also influence the people
around us to do the same. Amen
