As a potential next phase, Futures Platform team could

build a scenario monitoring radar to make the follow-
up, analysis and update of each of the scenario paths
faster, fluent and more resource efficient.

• Visual summary on scenario paths, images of the
futures and the main alerts to follow.

1. Defining the issues/ the main Using the result of rating: copying the phenomena 1. Select two axes, that reflect your business the most (=mirrors the basic assumptions

the building blocks for the scenarios.

of needs a persona living in that world could have? What business opportunities or
threats the scenario provides?

(Can be facilitated in a workshop or just discussed and decided in smaller scenario

building team, but always involve key decision-maker(s) of the organisation.)
(2. workshop, 1-2h)
Next: To set scenario alerts: you can create a new radar and
set described phenomena as alerts in four sectors (each of
sectors would be representing one of the scenarios)
Stress-testing the strategy against renewed
scenarios
As a potential next phase, Futures Platform team could stress test organisation’s
strategy based on updated/renewed scenario work results.

Targets:
• What does the future look like from our perspective?
• How to future(s)-proof our strategy?
• What issues we need to be prepared for?
• What are our strengths and weaknesses?
• How to prepare for future changes?

ONLY USE IF NEEDED AND CONFIRM WITH

Key themes to be stress tested within the organisation’s future-proof strategy work:

1. Strategic weaknesses:

PROJECT TEAM
Immediate development needs: Acute issues and problem topics that need to be
addressed as soon as possible.
• Long term issues: Potential seeds of future problems, that we want to be prepared for or
complex issues that cannot be resolved in the near future.

2. Strategic strengths:
• Sustain (protect): Factors that we need to maintain and develop.
• Compete (prosper): Competitive advantages that define us as a unique player in the
market.

3. Relevant phenomena to follow:

• Relevant phenomena on the Futures Platform radar: To map the future developments.
