This is a population density

map, showing how many
people live in North
America.

Decoration—>
The darker the color, the more dense the population is.
Darker Colors=More people.
Lighter Colors=Less people.
The South East part of North America seems to be more heavily populated compared to the West. We
can see this by noting the different colors that show up more often on the map. This also correlates
with the geography of North America. Wherever there are mountains there is a smaller population,
while where there are bodies of water like Lake Superior there is a more dense population. The
climate of North America also dictates where people live. Places with harsher climates have less
people, and places with nicer climates have more people.
Climate
In this map, we see Canada and Greenland with
more of a cold climate. Because of the extreme
temperatures, it is less populated there.
Compared to the United States which has a more
humid-arid climate, which is a better place for
people to live. At the bottom, in places like
Mexico and Honduras, it has a more Tropical-arid
climate, which is still a good place for people to
live.
Geography (North America’s Landforms)
As you can see there are many mountain ranges, like the
Rocky Mountains, stretching across North America. There
are also many bodies of water like Lake Superior. Most
people tend to settle next to bodies of water instead of the
mountain ranges.People needed water for their daily
activities and staying near water bodies would give them
easy access to water. The water from these water sources
could be used for multiple activities like farming, cooking or
drinking. While when you live in the mountains the climate is
generally harsh, with steep temperature drops between day
and night, high winds, runoff from melting snow and rain that
cause high levels of erosion and thin, immature soils.
Climate change is likely to place considerable stress on the
mountain environment and the people who live there.
