learned portions of human behaviour developed as a result of his interaction with the environment • People are not born with any knowledge of culture • Is learnt by growing in a particular society • Process of learning is termed ENCULTURATION CULTURE DEFINED
• Linton (1940) defines culture as the sum total of
knowledge, attitudes and habitual behaviour patterns shared and transmitted by members of a particular society • Tyler (1946) A complex whole which include knowledge, belief, art, morals, customs, cuisine and other capabilities and habits acquired by man as a member of society CULTURE DEFINED
