Present Simple Tense

When we use it?


• To talk about invariable facts.
• Talk about habitual actions.
• To talk about permanent states.
Affirmative form
• Subject + verb + complement

• The dog barks.


• They study everydays.
• She lives in Bogota.
Negative form
• Subject + don’t/doesn’t + verb +
complement

• The dog doesn’t bark.


• They don’t study everydays.
• She doesn’t live in Bogota.
Interrogative form
• Do/Does + Subject + verb + complement

• Does the dog bark.


• Do they study everydays.
• Does she live in Bogota.
Rules
Applied to: the verb of 3rd person.

• Es: o, ch, sh,x,ss,s. Do=does. Fix=fixes.


• Ies: consonant + Y. Fly=flies. Dry=dries.
• S: all diferent verbs. Read= reads Sing=sings.

My friend Jackie (1) ____________ in Austria. She lives with her boyfriend.
