CHRISTIANITY
Based on statistics, there are more than 2 billion Christians all
over the world that makes up 30% of the world’s population.
It centers the life, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus
Christ, who is considered the Messiah or Savior of humanity.

 The cross symbolize of Jesus Christ’s victory over sins when He


died on the cross for humanity’s redemption and salvation.
 In Roman Catholic churches, the crucifix is a regular feature, with
the image of Christ nailed on the cross. However, Protestant
churches features only the cross without the image of the body of
Christ.
Bible is composed of Old Testament(39
books) and New Testament(27 books) , it
is the primary source of historical
information about Christianity.
Christianity developed in Palestine
around 100 CE that was ruled by Romans,
and is founded by Jesus Christ.
 The hierarchy nature of Catholic Church took on the form of
Roman political structures. The top hierarchy is the pope. It also
includes the cardinals, archbishops, bishops, priests, and deacons.
 Women are excluded from the hierarchy and can only serve as
nuns.

Story of Creation vs. Big Bang Theory
The story of creation narrates how God created the
universe in 6 days, is found in Genesis 1 of the old
testament and rested on the 7 th day. This story has often
been attributed as the one which explains the origin of the
universe from a Christian point-of-view.
On the other hand, science has its own theories on how
the universe began which is called the Big Bang Theory.
Worship and Observances
Advent refers to the season of waiting for the birth of the
Messiah (beginning 4 days before Christmas and ends on
Christmas eve).
Lent refers to the season observed by Christians in
preparation for Easter. Ash Wednesday signals the start of the
season of Lent which begins 40 days before Easter.
Pentecost celebrated as a holiday to commemorate the
coming of the holy spirit on the early Christians. It is also
celebrated as the birthday of the church.
