II. OBJECTIVES
The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) is the extension and training arm of the
Philippine Department of Agriculture, mandated to train agricultural extension workers and
their clientele and lead in the delivery of e-extension services for agriculture and fisheries. "The Home
for e-Extension“
By virtue of EO 116, s. 1987, the ATI shall be responsible for the training of all agricultural
extension workers and their clientele, who are mostly farmers and other agricultural workers, ensure
that training programs address the real needs of the agricultural sector, and ensure that the research
results are then communicated to the farmers through the appropriate training and extension activities.
Definition of Proposed Problem
The Expanded ISAT U Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) Learning Site and Facility
is an institutional facility (Division C-2) that will efficiently provide a larger-capacity model farm
for the DA-ATI’s actual practice (demonstration areas) of agricultural strategies, and an
integrated facility to employ the ATI programs on extension, scholarships, and trainings. Thus,
the target users will be the agriculture faculty and students of ISAT U Leon, facilitators and
personnel of the ATI training extension, and the local farmers and agricultural practitioners who
will benefit the extension programs of the ATI.
The facility will help the community be agriculturally resilient through integrating
sustainable crop production that is resilient from calamity and infestation. Thus, the locality will
be equipped with efficient knowledge for livelihood improvement.
Brief Description of Local Setting

•The Bachelor of Science in Agriculture provides students with knowledge in agricultural chemicals, crop
raising, integrated pest management, fertilizers, seed conditioning, and other areas related to
the production and quality control in the food and fiber industry. Students will also learn about livestock
raising and how to manage a farm or agribusiness.
Students who will complete the first two years of this program will be awarded with Certificate of Agriculture,
which can be used to have a technical-vocational training under TESDA. Graduates of this program can become

Gaps & Problems
• Lack of greenhouses and crop production facilities for on-site
demonstration
• ATI has no publicity; not integrated to agriculture students of
ISAT U
• Absence of agricultural laboratories to conduct research on
crop science
• The existing facilities of the institution cannot host permanent
offices and conference rooms for ATI facilitators and
agricultural personnel
• There is no existing hub integrated to the model-farm that is
intended for farmers, agricultural practitioners, and
individuals that will benefit from the ATI programs
