Antisocial personality disorder
• Antisocial personality disorder also known as sociopathy is a mental health condition in which a

person has a long-term pattern of manipulating, exploiting or violating the right of others. People

with antisocial personality tend to purposely make others angry or upset and manipulate others

harshly.
SYMPTOMS OF ANTISOCIAL PERSONALITY
DISORDER

• 1. Being able to act witty and charming


• These people are able to use charm or wit to manipulate others for personal gain
or pleasure. For example
• 2.Having a sense of superiority and being extremely opinionated
• People with antisocial personality disorder do not accept views of other people as
they see their views to be more sensible.
3. Persistent violation of rights of others
Individuals with antisocial personality disorder may repeatedly engage in
behaviors that infringe on the rights of others, such as lying, stealing, or
using manipulation to exploit others for personal gain. For example, they
might engage in financial fraud or deceive people for personal advantage.
4.Lack of Empathy
Individuals with antisocial personality disorder often struggle to understand
or relate to the feelings and perspectives of others. They appear cold and
callous, showing little concern for others wellbeing.
5. Irresponsibility
Consistent failure to meet financial or work related obligation, neglecting
parental responsibility or frequent job changes due to conflict with authority
figures are common examples.

People with ASPD often engage in criminal behaviors such theft, assault or fraud
which can result in arrest or other legal proceedings .
• Relationship difficulties
People with ASPD have difficulties maintaining healthy relationships due their
manipulative, deceitful and callous behavior
• Employment issues : for example unreliable work habits and disregard for
authority.
• Physical violence
Aggressive behaviors and anger management issues can lead to physical violence
leading to harm of others
• Mental health problems
ASPD comes with other mental health issues such as depression, anxiety and drug
and substance abuse disorder.
RISK FACTORS OF ASPD
• Unstable or violent family life during childhood
• Experiencing abuse or neglect during childhood
• Family history of antisocial personality disorder
• Diagnosis of childhood conduct disorder
PREVENTION OF ASPD
• There is no sure way of preventing antisocial personality disorder in those
people that are at risk of developing it. This is because ASPDS is thought to
have its roots in childhood development. It may help to try to identify early
warning signs of those at risk for example children who show signs of
conduct disorder and offer early interventions.
