OF PSYCHOSOMATIC DISEASES
 principle of psychosomatic medicine in
clinical practice is the acceptance of
interrelated psychologic and physical
problems as an intrinsic characteristic of
medicine.
TREATMENTS FOR PSYCHOSOMATIC DISORDER

 Psychotherapy: This is also known as talking


treatment.
 Psychoanalysis: This therapy is used to treat
depression and anxiety disorder.
 Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT): CBT
focuses on the examination of the patient’s
thoughts and beliefs that impact his/her
mental condition.
62. PRINCIPLE OF INDIVIDUALISED
APPROACH TO THERAPY
 Individual therapy is one type of
psychotherapy in which a trained
professional helps a single person work
through personal issues they have been
facing. It is an effective treatment for a
variety of emotional difficulties and mental
illnesses.

COMBINATION THERAPY
 Combination therapies might be
hypothesized to interact in two general
ways:
 (a) One agent may simply reinforce the
action of another agent,
 (b) the two drugs may combine to exert
effects that are distinct from either
individual compound.
EXAMPLE:
Rifampin,
isoniazid, and
pyrazinamide
combination is
used to treat
tuberculosis (TB)
infection.

65. CONCEPT OF NEUROSIS
Mental disorder that causes a sense of distress
and deficit in functioning.(where behavior is
not outside socially acceptable norms)
EXAMPLE -
Intense anxiety or panic in non-threatening
social situations like going out to eat, a work
function, or friendly gathering. Difficulty taking
care of basic needs, such as shopping, hygiene,
paying bills or keeping a job, as a result of
depression or anxiety.
