Manipulations
To Enter Text
Insertion Point
- The blinking vertical line where you can start
Inserting text using your keyboard.
- This is also know as the Cursor
- It moves forward as you type each letter
- It is always positioned to the right of the last
letter you typed
To Insert Text
Type Text
• Place the insertion point where the text will be added
Copy and paste
• Highlight the text to copy, right-click the mouse, and select COPY. Place
the cursor where the text will be place. Right-click at the insertion point
and click Paste.
To Insert Text
Drag Text
• Highlight the text to move, click and hold the highlighted text and drag it
to its new place
Cut and paste
• Highlight the text to copy, right-click the mouse, and select CUT. Place
the cursor where the text will be place. Right-click at the insertion point
and click Paste.
Moving the insertion point
• Move the mouse pointer to where you want to move the
insertion point and click at that location.
• Use arrow keys to move the position of the insertion point.
• It will the insertion point 1 character depending on the arrow
key pressed.
• It can move upward, downward, left, and right.
Moving to the next line
• This is needed when you want to type a new paragraph.
• At the end of the paragraph, press the ENTER key.
• To add more spaces or blank lines, simple press ENTER key
again.
Delete and Backspace Key
DELETE key
- It deletes characters to the RIGHT of the insertion point
BACKSPACE key
- It deletes characters to the LEFT of the insertion point
Undo and Redo
UNDO action
- If you have done something but want to cancel the action, use the shortcut
key CTRL+Z. However, some action cannot be undone such as saving a
file.
REDO action
- If you have cancelled or deleted something but want to redo the action, use
the shortcut key CTRL+Y.
