Lionel Messi is a professional football player who plays
for Paris Saint-Germain. He is the best player in the
world, and he has won a total of seven Ballon d'Or
awards.
 Barcelona achievements
Born and raised in central Argentina, Messi moved to Spain to join Barcelona at
the age of 13, with them he made his competitive debut aged 17 in October
2004.2008 at the age of 22, Messi won his first Ballon d'Or. Three successful
seasons followed, with Messi winning four consecutive Ballon d'Ors, making him
the first player to win the award four times in a row. In the 2011–12 season, he
set La Liga and European records for most goals scored in a single season, and
also became Barcelona's all-time leading goalscorer. For the next two seasons,
Messi finished second for the Ballon d'Or behind Cristiano Ronaldo , before
returning to his top form in the 2014-15 campaign, becoming all-time top scorer.
He was awarded his fifth Ballon d'Or in 2015. Messi took over as Barcelona
captain in 2018, and in 2019 he won his sixth Ballon d'Or. At the end of his
contract, he signed for Paris Saint Germain in August 2021.
 National achievements
On behalf of Argentina, Messi is the best player in his country and the best scorer in
history. At his youth level, he won the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship and won
the Golden Ball, Golden Boot and Olympic Gold Medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics.
His playing style as a small left foot dribbler is compared to Diego Maradona. After
making his senior debut in August 2005, Messi became the youngest Argentine to play
and score in the FIFA World Cup in 2006, reaching the 2007 Copa America final and
being selected as a young player in the tournament. As team captain, he has led
Argentina to the finals three times in a row since August 2011. He won the Golden Ball
at the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2015 Golden Ball at the 2015 and 2016 Copa
America.

recruited to join the youth club of Newell's Old Boys.

He discovered his passion for football when he played with older
boys.Messi saw that he was getting better and better.Soon he surpassed the
older kids.
 Failing for success
At the age of eleven he was diagnosed with a growth disorder and this lead to financial
problems in the family due to his medicine . Soon at the of 13 , Barcelona signed him in their
youth academy and agreed to play for his medicine.
