What is Pantone?

system, the Pantone Matching System (PMS) in
1963 to revolutionize and solve the complicated
colour matching in the printing industry
• The Pantone Matching System is useful because it is the standardized
colour matching system that is widely used

• Their system helps communicate precise colour requirements that are


universal for designers, producers, and manufacturers

• It became a tool that made consistent and accurate colours that could be
distinguished all around the world

• They have two colour systems, Pantone Matching System (PMS) and
Fashion, Home, Interior (FHI) system

• Each system has different uses:


PMS colours are used to reference ink-printed projects
FHI colours are used for non-ink-printed types of products

• The two systems are in place to ensure that the colours are producible
based on the material used

• The colours produced and distributed would be guaranteed to match


across various regions
