It’s good to have list in kitchen of all children with allergy and special food requirements. In ach class
you can create system with photos of children and described allergies or food requirements. Nursery
provider need to work closely with parents, to keep update child records.

Food allergies can lead children may become ill, have allergy reactions. So it’s important for
practitioners to know about child allergies and share with other staff members so everyone is aware of
child allergies.
Religious, cultural and social requirements can also give instruction for practitioner what child can eat,
for example some children may be vegan, vegetarian, eat only halal food. Regarding babies, records
have to be kept with information of giving babies bottle of feed and making them. Providers need to

how much, what time baby have a bottle it should be kept for parents record. When child has a
diabetes it’s important that you share about with other staff so everyone know the child’s needs.

CORRECTION
Keeping and sharing coherent records with regard to special dietary requirements is essential for many
reasons.
The most important it helps to avoid incidents, if child will receive wrong food, this can lead to allergy
reactions and serious consequences. Early years practitioners should respect parents wishes and
preferences, if their child has a certain diet for religious and cultural reasons. It’s a requirement of the
EYFS, that all practitioner have to make sure that they are know and understand all EYFS requirements.
Before child transitions is necessary practitioner will discussed with parents about child dietary
requirements. The practitioner should keep that in the records and all staff have an access to that.
The Early Years practitioner should record food intake of child during a day and shared that with parents.
And parents should informed practitioner about child food intake. Example, if child didn’t have a
breakfast at home and parents share this information with parents, practitioner will have knowledge that
child may be hungry and offer him breakfast. This is to make sure that child well-being is met and all
important information is passed and shared between adults.
