Introduction:
Computer system have become best security
system
It can more vulnerable than others system
World wide access to computer system via
internet
It comes in many forms;
Encryption methods
Digital Signatures
Fingerprints and face scan as a password.
Network:
A network consists of two or more computers
that are linked in order to share resources
(such as printers), exchange files or other info
and communication.

Types:
1. LAN (Local Area Network)
2. MAN (Area Network)
3. WAN (Wireless Area Network)
4. PAN (Personal Area Network).
Security:
It means safety, as well as the measures
taken to be safe and it can give you
freedom from any kind of fear and
danger. It can secure your data and
property.it is a condition of being
protected against or loss.
Network Security:
Network security is a set of
technologies that protects the
usability and integrity of a
company.it keeps save sensitive
data from cyber attacks.it can be
accomplished through software and
hardware. Network security may
consists of many components that
can work together to improve
security.
Network Attacks

A network attack is an attempt to gain unauthorized

access to an organizations network, with the objective
of stealing data and destroy the information or perform
other malicious activity.
Types of Network Attacks
Botnets (infects PC)
DNS Spoofing(Send data to fake)
DDOS( distributed denial of service)
Rootkits( hidden)
IP Spoofing(change data)
Phishing (steal info)
MITM( listening).
Categories of Threats

There are four categories of network security

threats:
1) Internal Threats
2) External Threats
3) Structured Threats
4) Unstructured Threats
Types of Network Security:

Data loss Prevention

Firewall
Intrusion Prevention Systems
Sandboxing
Firewall

A Firewall is a network security device

that monitors and filters incoming and
outgoing network traffic based on an
organization’s previously established
security policies. At its most basic, a
firewall is essentially the barrier that sits
between a private internal network and
the public Internet. A firewall’s main
purpose is to allow non-threatening traffic
in and to keep dangerous traffic out.
Principles of NS

Integrity

Confidentiality

Availability
Principle of NS:
Confidentiality:
The degree of confidentiality determines the secrecy
of the information. The principle specifies that only the
sender and receiver will be able to access the information
shared between them.
Integrity:
Integrity gives the assurance that the information
received is exact and accurate.
Authentication:
Authentication is the mechanism to identify the user
or system or the entity. It ensures the identity of the person
trying to access the information. The authentication is
mostly secured by using username and password
Pros:

Keep your data safe

Protects against cyber-attacks
Accessibility levels
Centrally Controlled
Updates from a central location
