Recent work
• Do a simulation
• Prepare a conference poster

Ostolaza, M et al (2022). CFD simulation for the modelling of the powder flow on
continuous coaxial nozzles in the laser DED process

of the argon flow at the nozzle centerline in the Z direction.

• k-ω SST model is preferred than k-ε and k-ω.

The near-wall regions are solved based on the
robust and accurate k-ω formulation.
• k-ε formulation is activated in the far field. So,
the flow separation is better predicted, while
maintaining the flow stability in the far field.

Recent work

My current simulation Chenguang G. et al (2022). Analysis of the

Agglomeration of Powder in a Coaxial Powder Feeding
Nozzle Used for Laser Energy Deposition

Future work
• Continue my simulation
• Try to applied laser attenuation theoretical formula

The laser attenuation need to be measured due

to powder stream characteristics.

More than 50% of the laser energy could be

lost in powder stream.

The focused stream gives less powder

catchment than the non-focused stream.
