International day of Women and

girls in science

11th February 2023

Why do we mark International Days?

International days and weeks are occasions to educate the public on issues
of concern, to address global problems, and to celebrate and reinforce
achievements of humanity.

UN has embraced them as a powerful advocacy tool.

As Teachers, what is our role in improving Scientific temper in
students in general and girls in particular?
1. Encourage Students Scientific Curiosity: Feed natural curiosity and
encourage them to ask more questions

2. Improve Critical Thinking Capabilities: Upward learning curve

3. Supporting the Students with their Experiments: Practical oriented learning

4. Offer Opportunities to Practice: Organised learning & hands on experience

5. Make Learning Fun: One of the most effective methods to not only develop a student’s
scientific temper but also to make them engaged in the learning process is to make
learning fun.
