The Dragon Boat Festival is a popular event in China. It takes place on the fifth day of
the fifth month in the Chinese lunar calendar. The festival usually occurs in the late
spring or early summer. This celebration has been in existence for over 2,000 years!
端午节是中国非常重要的传统节日。中国农历五月初五是端午节。通常在春末夏
初庆祝。这个节日已经存在了超过 2000 年。

 Origin of the Dragon Boat Festival
端午节的起源
The Dragon Boat Festival is a national holiday in China. It is also a cultural heritage
celebration. Some think that the idea of floating out on boats came from the search for
a famous poet. This poet, Qu Yuan, died in a river around 278 B.C. Many people went
out in boats to search for him.
端午节是中国的国家法定假期。同时它对文化传承起到了重要的作用。有些人认
为乘船出海的目的是为了寻找一位著名的诗人。这位诗人，名叫屈原，他在公元
前 278 年左右跳河自杀。很多人乘船想要去寻找他。

端午节的起源
Dragon boat racing is the most popular part of the Dragon Boat Festival. Boats are
decorated to look like dragons. They can be up to 65 feet long. They usually hold 22
people. Paddlers in the boat race train to paddle very quickly. They also train to paddle
in sync with other team members. The team who wins the race believes they will
receive good luck.
庆祝端午节最受欢迎的部分就是赛龙舟。船被装饰的看起来像龙。船的长度可达
