B. There’s/There are

We use There is (There’s) + singular nouns.


Example: There is a hospital on the Pemuda Street.

Remember! We also use There is + singular nouns + singular nouns


Example: There is a minimarket, a bank and a café by the river.
Not There are a minimarket, a bank and a café by he river.

We use There are (There’re) + plural nouns.


Example: There are lots of museums in Semarang.
Not There is lots of museums in Semarang.

C. Positive Imperatives

To make positive imperative sentences, use the base form of


the verb.
Example:
 Buy the bread in the bakery.
 Visit the Maimun Palace when you are in Medan.

Summary

There, their or there are all pronounced the same.


• We use there in the phrase there’s/there are.
e.g. There’s a police station on the corner on the street.
• We also use there to say where something is.
e.g. The restroom is over there.
• There is a possessive pronoun (such as my, your, his, her, our).
e.g. Thomas and Jack are twins. Their house is next to the bank.
They’re = they are
e.g. That’s Rob and Hanson. They’re (they are) my nephews.
• There is (There’s) and There are (There’re)
We use There’s + singular nouns.
Example: There’s a library on the Ahmad Yani Street.
Remember! We also use There’s + singular nouns + singular nouns

Positive Imperative
• We use imperative when we want to tell someone to do something.
• The positive imperative sentences use the base form of the verb.

Prepositions of Place
We use prepositions of place to say where something or someone is.
Example:
 My money is in my pocket.
 The cellphone is on the table.
 The bench is in front of the pond.
 The cat is behind the sofa.
 There’s a bank next to the supermarket.
 The school is between the restaurant and the bookshop.
