Approximately 85% of textiles are discarded, while only around 15%
are currently or potentially recycled. Similarly, in a local tailor shop
near my home, vast quantities of unused fabric were being thrown
away. I took the initiative to upcycle these materials, creating items
that may not have a monumental impact but certainly deserve
attention for their reuse and repurposing.

Traditionally, dinner tablecloths and mats are made of
plastic, designed to repel stains caused by food. However,
my mother and I, with the assistance of a local tailor, have
crafted similar mats and covers using discarded cloth that
would otherwise have been thrown away. This upcycling
initiative has not only contributed to a marginal
reduction in carbon footprint but has also saved money
that would have been spent on purchasing new dinner
tablecloths.

•By following the same process described earlier, I've
successfully created a collection of mats in diverse colors.

method previously outlined, resulting in a set that offers
variety and uniqueness in terms of color and design.
