Holes
by
Louis Sachar
Many different covers but they are all
the same!
What do you think the
story is about?
One day Stanley Yelnats is walking down the street and he is hit
on the head by a pair of tennis shoes that came out of nowhere.
Those shoes belong to a famous baseball player named Clyde
Livingston.
Unfortunately, Stanley is mistakenly charged with having stolen the
shoes and is sentenced to serve out his crime at Camp Green Lake.
Camp Green Lake is really a juvenile retention centre for
bad boys set in a desert-like wasteland full of rattlesnakes
and poisonous lizards. A warden runs the place.
Here the boys must dig holes all day.
There are many unanswered questions. Why does the
warden have the boys dig so many holes? Will Stanley
ever get out of this camp?
One of the themes in the story
is bullying.

Let’s talk!
How important is it
for people your age
to feel like they
belong?
Do you believe in
bad luck? How
about curses?
Do you anyone who
was punished for
something s/he
didn’t do?
Do you have to
be big in size to
be intimidating?
Would you lie to
protect someone?
We´ll start
reading the
story!
