WHO FOUNDED SOLAR CAR?
 William G. Cobb invented solar car.
 The first model solar car invented was a tiny
15-inch vehicle created by General
Motors employee,William G. Cobb. Called it
the Sunmobile, he displayed it in 1955 at the
Chicago, Powerama convention. It was made
up of 12 selenium photovoltaic cells and a
small electric motor.
HOW SOLAR CAR WORK?
 Solar cars depend on a solar array that uses
photovoltaic cells (PV cells) to convert
sunlight into electricity. Unlike solar thermal
energy which converts solar energy to heat,
PV cells directly convert sunlight into
electricity.
USES OF SOLAR CAR
 A solar car is a solar vehicle used for land
transport. Solar cars usually run on only
power from the sun, although some models
will supplement that power using a battery,
or use solar panels to recharge batteries or
run auxiliary systems for a car that mainly
uses battery power.
ADVANTAGES OF SOLAR CAR
 The advantages of solar cars. Eco-friendly and
Quiet: Solar-powered vehicles have zero
emission level, as they don't utilize non-
renewable resources and burn fuel. The electric
motors generate electricity that doesn't emit
any greenhouse gases or any other pollutants.
 No Fuel Costs: Unlike the conventionally fueled
vehicles, solar vehicles have no fuel costs and a
low cost of maintenance.
DISADVANTAGES OF SOLAR CAR
 The initial cost of purchasing a solar system
is fairly high.
 Weather Dependent. Although solar energy
can still be collected during cloudy and rainy
days, the efficiency of the solar system
drops.
 The efficient solar panels and batteries and
their replacement are way too expensive
that need to be changed so often. This is
what makes the solar vehicles a costly affair.
IMPORTANCE OF SOLAR CARS
 Solar Is Clean and Safe. Solar is a safe
alternative which can replace current fossil
fuels like coal and gas for generation of
electricity that produce air, water, and land
pollution. ... Use of solar energy will
eliminate these unsafe, unclean
consequences from using conventional fossil
fuels.
 Reduce pollution and safe environment.
