STRUCTURE: Have\Has+subject+ ever
+participle?
• Use the present perfect + ever to ask questions about experiences in
someone's life. “Have you ever taken dance classes?”

• HAVE YOU EVER TRIED THAI FOOD?
• HAS SHE EVER DRIVEN A TRUCK?

• We use it to emphasise that we expect something to happen soon. We
usually put it at the end of a sentence

• HAS THE E-MAIL ARRIVED YET?
• HAVEN’T YOU GOT READY YET? LOOK AT THE TIME.
• HAS HE SENT THE REPORT TO THE OPERATIONAL DEPARTMENT

STRUCTURE: Subj + haven’t\hasn’t +
participle + yet.
• We use yet when we are waiting for something to happen or
expecting something to happen. We use yet in negative sentences to
say that this thing that we are expecting to happen has not happened.

• She hasn’t called yet. (= I’m waiting for her to call, but she hasn’t
done it.)
• She still hasn’t called.
• I haven’t done my homework yet.

BEEN X GONE
• We use been to, instead of gone to, when we refer to completed visits to a
place. If the visit is not complete, we use gone.

• I’VE BEEN TO JAPAN TWICE. (I’M NOT IN JAPAN ANYMORE.)


• SHE’S BEEN THERE BEFORE.
• MY FATHER HAS BEEN TO THE HOSPITAL. EVERYTHING IS OK
NOW!
• MY FATHER HAS GONE TO THE HOSPITAL. HE’S REALLY SICK!
• BOB’S GONE TO THE SUPERMARKET. HE’LL BE BACK IN ABOUT 10
MINUTES.

• We use just in positive sentences to talk about very recent events or
actions.
• SHE’S JUST SENT THE E-MAIL.
• I’VE JUST HAD LUNCH.

• We use already in positive sentences to talk about actions and events that
happened before now or earlier than expected.
• I’VE ALREADY CALLED MY MOM. HAVE YOU? IT’S HER B-DAY
TODAY!
• SUMMER HAS ALREADY ARRIVED IN BRAZIL
