INERTIA AND TYPES

OF INERTIA

WHAT IS INERTIA?

Inertia is the tendency of objects in motion to

stay in motion, and objects at rest to stay at
rest, unless a force causes its speed or
direction to change.

INERTIA OF DIRECTION

WHAT IS INERTIA OF
DIRECTION?

Inertia of Direction is if an object is in

uniform motion continues its straight line
motion until and unless and external
unbalanced force is applied.
.

20XX INERTIA OF DIRECTION 3

EXAMPLES ON INERTIA OF DIRECTION

Example: When a car makes a

fast turn at a high speed,
the driver is thrown to the
side.

20XX EXAMPLES 4
INERTIA OF REST

It states that an object at rest continues to

be at rest until and unless an external
unbalanced force acts on it.

20XX INERTIA OF REST 5

EXAMPLES ON INERTIA OF REST

Example: When a card is pulled out horizontally,

suddenly the coin continues its state of rest of rest
due to Inertia of rest and falls down vertically into
the glass.

INERTIA OF MOTION

WHAT IS INERTIA OF MOTION?

Inertia of Motion is when an object continues its

state of Uniform Motion until and unless an
external unbalanced force acts on it.

EXAMPLES ON INERTIA OF MOTION

Example: Passengers in a vehicle feel a forward

jerk when sudden brakes are applied.

TWO LINES ABOUT THE
HISTORY OF INERTIA

The term "Inertia" was first introduced by

Johannes Kepler in his Epitome Astronomiae
Copernicanae (published in three parts from
1617 to 1621)

SUMMARY

Inertia, property of a body by virtue of which it

opposes any agency that attempts to put it in motion
or, if it is moving, to change the magnitude or
direction of its velocity.
