• On October 10, 2022, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed into law
the SIM Registration Act (the first law he signed). Republic Act 11934,
or the Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) Card Registration Act, is the
government’s latest initiative to provide a safer space to Filipino
mobile subscribers.

• The law was enacted on December 27, 2022, and requires mobile
subscribers to register by April 26, 2023.

• More than 105 million or more than 60% of the total number of active
SIMs in the country are now registered with the government, the
Department of Information and Communications Technology.
