The passage is about the challenges that
women lawyers face in advancing their
careers in law firms. It suggests that women
lose motivation due to unfairness, and how
taking care of a family affect their
opportunities and recognition. It also

SUMMARY mentions that women need to learn how to

self-promote and express their desires more
effectively. This passage also shows why
many female lawyers work part-time or
leave their careers. How women face
difficulties in balancing their work and
family responsibilities and what main role
they play in a family . So they need more
support from their spouses and firms.
1. Among the various approaches to enhancing workplace
satisfaction and productivity discussed in the chapter, which ones
might you take under the circumstances described in the case? Why
are some of the other approaches less likely to be effective (or even
relevant)?

Some more workplace satisfaction and benefits

that can come in handy:
1. It implements officers who provide guidance
and support in association with experienced
lawyers.
2. It helps both male and female lawyers to
balance their professional and personal life.
1. Among the various approaches to enhancing workplace
satisfaction and productivity discussed in the chapter, which ones
might you take under the circumstances described in the case? Why
are some of the other approaches less likely to be effective (or even
relevant)?

Some of the other approaches discussed here

might be less effective in this case :
1. Traditional maternity leave policies and rigid
work arrangements may not address the
underlying issues of gender bias and
inequality in career advancement.
2. Focusing solely on self-promotion without
addressing the systemic barriers may not lead
to meaningful change in the long term.
2.You’re the managing partner in a law firm with 55 male associates and 45 female
associates, and you agree with the argument that women lawyers need to “self- promote”
more effectively. Which approach to motivation would you apply in order to encourage female
associates in your firm to “self-promote” more actively? Explain your choice of approach.

This theory suggests that setting specific,

challenging, and attainable goals can increase
motivation and performance.
1. Directing attention
2. Mobilizing effort.
3. Increasing persistence.
4. Fostering the development and action plans.
3.What about your own values when it comes to balancing your home and work life?
Assume that you’re about to graduate from law school and about to marry someone who’s
also about to graduate from law school. When you sit down with your future husband/wife
to discuss your plans for married life ever after, what do you want to do about raising a
family? What kind of adjustments will you propose if it turns out that your intended's ideas
on the matter are more or less the opposite of your own? Be sure to consider such factors
as the debt you’ve racked up while in law school and the standard of living that you’d like
to achieve.

When discussing plans for raising a family with my future spouse, my

values would revolve around open communication, shared
responsibilities, and practical considerations.
Here's how I would approach the conversation:
1. Open and Honest Communication
2. Shared Responsibilities
3. Financial Considerations
4. Work-Life Balance
5. Standard of Living
6. Long-Term Goals
