Eddy currents:
• Eddy current testing is one of the most
widely used non-destructive testing
techniques for detecting flaws or defects
within a material.
How it works
• Eddy current testing uses electrical
currents induced in conductive
materials through an oscillating
magnetic field to detect defects
without damaging the material.

• Welding inspection
• Conductivity Test

Applications •

Surface inspection
Corrosion detection
• Bolt Hole Inspection
• Piping inspection
Benefits
• Distinction between internal and external
defects;
• Sensitivity to surface defects;
• Detects in different layers;
• Fast and simple;
• Measures the conductivity of the material;
• Portability;
• Equipment can be automated.
Disadvantages
• Susceptible to changes in magnetic permeability;
• Effective only on conductive materials;
• Will not detect defects parallel to the surface;
• Signal interpretation required;
• Not suitable for large areas.
