 Some Important points of N.E.P.

► This policy envisages that the extant 10+2 structure in school education will be modified
with a new pedagogical and curricular restructuring of 5+3+3+4 covering ages 3-18.
► Students will be given increased flexibility and choice of subjects to study, particularly in
secondary school - including subjects in physical education, the arts and crafts, and
vocational skills so that they can design their own paths of study and life plans.
► There will be no hard separation among ‘curricular’, ‘extracurricular ’, or ‘co-
curricular’ ,among ‘arts’, ‘humanities’, and ‘sciences’, or between ‘vocational’ or
‘academic’ streams.
► Subjects such as physical education, the arts and crafts, and vocational skills, in addition to
science, humanities, and mathematics, will be incorporated throughout the school
curriculum, with a consideration for what is interesting and safe at each age.

► The exam lasted 3 hours in total.

 Types and number of questions remains same in

session 2023-24 as it was in session 2022-23.

 Competency Focused Questions increased to 40% in

2023-24, though in session 2022-23 it was 30% of the
paper only.

 Constructed response questions reduced to 40% in

2023-24 as compared to 2022-23 where it was 50% of the
question paper.

 Percentage of direct questions is hardly 20%.

• As per the new changes in the CBSE Class 12 Exam Pattern,
students will now get more MCQs in their exams. The major
changes include: CBSE will be including about 20% MCQ-based
questions for class 12 in the final board exams of 2024.A total of
40% of the questions in the final exams will be competency-based
including MCQs, source-based, and case-study-based questions.
Short and long answer-type questions will constitute 40% of the
total questions.
