Curiosities of the Solar System

The Great Red Spot of
Jupiter
Overview
The Great Red Spot is a giant
storm on Jupiter that has been
raging for at least 350 years. It is so
large that it could fit two or three
Earths inside it. It is a high-pressure
region with winds that can reach
speeds of up to 400 miles per hour.
Observations
Scientists have been observing
the Great Red Spot since the 1800s.
In recent years, spacecraft like the
Juno probe have provided even
more detailed images and data about
the storm. Scientists are still trying
to understand why the storm has
lasted so long and what causes its
unique coloration.
The Rings of Saturn

Composition

Saturn's rings are

composed primarily of ice
particles ranging in size from
tiny specks to large boulders.
The exact origin of the rings
is still debated, but they are
thought to be the remnants of
a moon or other celestial body
that was torn apart by Saturn's
gravitational forces.
Variations
Saturn's rings are not uniform
in composition or density. They
are divided into several distinct
regions, each with its own unique
properties. The Cassini
spacecraft, which orbited Saturn
from 2004 to 2017, provided
detailed images and data on the
rings, revealing intricate patterns
and structures within them.
