WHERE IS
THE
PHILIPPINE?
Philippines, island country of Southeast Asia in the western
Pacific Ocean. It is an archipelagoconsisting of some
7,100 islands and islets lying about 5 0 0 miles
( 8 0 0 km)off the coast of Vietnam. Manila is
the capital, but nearby Quezon City is the country's
most-populous city.

b.Republican Democracy – A s stated by Article II, Section1 of 1987 the Philippine state is a
republic and democratic state. It is a republic because the people elected their own
representative for the government. Moreover, it is also democratic because the government is
for the people; Filipinos can directly participate to the aff airs of the state.

· Filipinos are known around the world to be hospitable. They
provide good treatment to any visitor or stranger asking for
assistance.
· Family is considered to be the basic unit of the society. Thus, everyone
gives high importance to every member of the family. This can be
observed through extended families, wherein, aside from the parents
and children, other relatives comprise the household. A s such,
Filipinos developed close family ties and respect for elders.
· Aside from the positive traits mentioned, Filipinos have the tendency
to be indolent or lazy, a trait pointed out by Dr. Jose Rizal. However,
Rizal believes that this is due to the weather of the Philippines.
· Fatalism is one (1) of the negative traits that Filipinos still practice.
They tend to believe that everything is already predestined;
thus, nothing can be done to change it.
· Filipinos are regionalistic. They are inclined to give importance to
the
