Before Beginning Any
Laboratory Exercise
• Know the dangers
associated with all
materials you will use in
this laboratory exercise
• Know the proper way of
using all the materials
provided for the exercise
• Know all the protective
measures you must use
during the exercise
Personal Protection
• Laboratory coat
• Wear an apron or lab coat in the proper
manner
• Alat ini untuk mencegah terjadinya
kontaminasi atau menghindari bahaya yang
terjadi akibat percikan zat-zat kimia yang
berbahaya.
• Gloves
• Wear gloves in the proper manner. Remove your gloves before
using instruments, telephone, and leaving the laboratory.
• Daya tahan sarung tangan terhadap bahan kimia tergantung
pada bahan sarung tangan (misalnya: karet alam; karet
neoprene; karet nitrile; dll.), mutunya dan ketebalannya.
• Untuk melindungi tangan dari bahan-bahan yang sangat panas
dianjurkan memakai "insulated glove" yang dibuat dari bahan
sintetis.
• Pelindung Mata dan Muka
• “Safety glases with side shield”
• “Face shield” = pelindung muka
• Wear a face shield in the proper manner.
• Kran pencuci mata = Eyewash fountain
• Safety shower
• Alat pernapasan = Respirator/Masker
Melindungi dari debu-debu, serat yang kecil
yang berbahaya atau dan uap atau gas yang
beracun.
• Hair
• Tie long hair neatly at
the back of the neck.
• Keep long or fluffy hair
tied up and out of the
way.
• Hair can contaminate
and be contaminated
by microbial cultures.
• Shoes
• Always wear shoes in
laboratory.
• Wear shoes that
enclose your entire
feet.
• Pemadam Kebakaran = Fire Extinguishers
• Ada beberapa jenis pemadam kebakaran, seperti Air
(water extinguisher), tepung (dry powder
extinguisher), C02 (Carbon dioxide extinguisher),
Halon, Busa, pasir, dll
Emergency Procedures

• Know where all exit doors


are located
• If a reagent splashes onto
your face or eyes, wash
your face at the eyewash
station for several
minutes
Emergency Procedures

• If an irritating or harmful
reagent splashes onto
your body, use the
emergency shower to
wash your body for
several minutes
• Know where the fire
extinguisher and fire
blanket are located
Emergency Procedures
• If a reagent spills onto the workbench or floor,
notify the instructor immediately for cleanup
instructions.
• If a glass container gets broken, notify the
instructor immediately for cleanup
instructions.
• Report all accidents, injuries and close calls
immediately to the instructor.

laboratory
• Do not use any laboratory
equipment until you are
told to do so
• Do not perform any
laboratory procedure
until you are told to do so

Before You Leave The
Laboratory
• Clean your workbench with
disinfectant at the beginning
and at the end of the
laboratory exercise
• Leave all equipment, samples
and reagents in the lab
• Leave your lab coat (apron) in
the lab
• Wash your hands with soap
and water

POISON : Bahan-bahan yang bersifat racun


Flammable :Bahan yang mudah terbakar
Corrosive: bahan yang dapat merusak jaringan hidup
Irritant: Sedikt saja masuk ke tubuh dapat membakar
kulit, selaput lendir atau sistem pernapasan
Toxic : Sedikit saja masuk ke tubuh dapat
menyebabkan kematian atau sakit keras
Oxidising Agent: Bahan yang dapat menghasilkan
panas bila bersentuhan dengan bahan lain terutama
bahan-bahan yang mudah terbakar
Explosive: Bahan yang mudah meledak bila kena
panas, api atau sensitif terhadap gesekan atau
goncangan
Radioactive: Bahan-bahan yang bersifat radioaktif
High voltage: Peringatan tegangan tinggi
No smooking: Area dilarang merokok
No fire: Area dilarang menyalakan api
