What is computer
memory
 Memory plays a very important
role in a computer. It is a basic
unit where data and instructions
are stored temporally. Memory
mostly has one or more chips. It is
present on the motherboard.
There is to types of computer
memory :

 RAM(Random access memory)

 ROM(Read only memory)


Ram:
 RAM which is also called main memory, consists of memory chips that can be read and written
by the processor and other devices.
 Types of Ram:

Dynamic RAM

Static RAM
ROM

 ROM refers to memory chips used


for storing data that can be read
only. The data on ROM chips
cannot be modified, hence the
name is read only memory.

 Types of ROM

 Erasable Programmable ROM

 Electrically EPROM
