Presentation Scenario
The UK Data Function has received a high priority business request to support a critical Thales programme.
The requirement is to ingest a set of data (exact size and complexity not yet known) from a new internal source
into the DV2 warehouse, integrate new data with existing data using the IIS stack with the output being a
detailed dash boarding product..
Data integration will use the standard Data Team gate processes, norms, frameworks and standards although
there will be pressure to accelerate where possible. We have not had confirmation of the level of access to
Business SME’s to support discovery and modelling requirements and the existing team has limited knowledge
of the target system.
The team have been considering implementing a continuous integration and test approach to development and
delivery. The speed of ETL and integration of data, Scheduling jobs impact and conflict have recently been
causing problems. We would like to use this job to demonstrate better mastery of these technical issues and are
interested in how these might be achieved.
Estimating without more details is impossible, so the we need to know what initial steps will be taken to develop
clarity on project approach and to build estimates.
