Homework review
• Draw a first sketch of your sustainable city design
• With your partner for the project (if relevant), sketch the zones within your new city.
(Use the same names for the areas as Hoyt and/or Burgess do in their models e.g.
central business district)
• What shape will your city have? Why?
• Add a key and colours
• Will you use a Burgess-style city? The Hoyt model? The Multiple Nuclei model? Why
or why not?
• Onto the back of your sketch, justify your decisions
• This task is not about the specifics, and more about whole-city level layout. What
types of land use should be where?
• In geography, a sketch is a rough diagram; no art skills required! Think of this as a
visual brainstorm
