The Mountain Range of the quinchas
Location
The Quinchas Highlands are situated on the
right bank of the Magdalena River, between the
municipalities of Puerto Boyacá and Otanche.
Known as Colombia's second most important
"lung" after the Amazon region.
Description

Description: The Quinchas Highlands host an

impressive variety of plant and animal life,
some of which are unique to this area. The
varying elevations of cloud forests and regular
forests create distinct ecosystems with diverse
flora and fauna.
Notable Features

The beautiful La Cristalina stream

originates in the highlands, with
its pure and transparent waters
forming stunning waterfalls and
natural pools. The Quinchas
Highlands are home to over 368
bird species, including the
remarkable Blue-billed Curassow.
Key Points

The forests remain largely

unexplored, with scientists
discovering new species for the
first time. There's a belief that
many more undiscovered bird
and plant species could hold
important answers for medicine..
Transmitted Feeling

Visitors can experience the tranquility of

nature and embrace a simple lifestyle in
one of Colombia's most incredible
biodiversity hotspots.
Personal Opinion
I encourage nature enthusiasts, like
myself, to visit this magical place. You can
walk on immense rock formations,
breathe pure air, and peacefully explore
after the peace agreement of 2016.
