Genre Genre Differences Genres have specific characteristics which define them. Those characteristics are how we decide if a piece of music belongs in a certain genre or not.
Often there is overlap between genres and an argument
can be made for a song to belong to multiple genres – it’s up to you as the audience to decide where you think a piece most appropriately fits.
We can also go the other way and use those characteristics
to inform our composition (music writing) – if we know what makes a jazz song, then we can include those things to make sure our composition is actually a jazz piece In your table groups,
