THE RELATIONSHIP

BETWEEN
WORK & WEALTH
Genesis 1:28
28
Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be
fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have
dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the
air, and over every living thing that [a]moves on the
earth.”
Genesis 2:4-7
4
This is the history of the heavens and the earth when
they were created, in the day that the LORD God made
the earth and the heavens, 5 before any plant of the
field was in the earth and before any herb of the field
had grown. For the LORD God had not caused it to rain
on the earth, and there was no man to till the ground;
Genesis 2:14 (NKJV)
15
Then the LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of
Eden to tend and keep it.
NIV
The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to
work it and take care of it.
New Heart English Bible
And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of
Eden to cultivate it and take care of it.
By now I believe we are all aware
that the Material Realm and Work
are part and parcel of God’s intent
for man to thrive in and it is good!
Let us now examine the HOW of
WORK and the key to thriving in
this environment, how was man
meant to operate in the
material realm?
1.The First concept we see for thriving is (Dominion)
The Word Dominion here means:-
Harnessing various resources as well as preserving
them.
This is not a license to abuse, but a contract from God
to care for something and literally to improve it.
Every kingdom work must harness resources,
preserve and improve their value.
2.The second concept is (Relationship)
No kingdom Work can succeed outside of
relationship. (Let US)
-Relationship with God
-Relationship with fellow workers
-Relationship with those who benefit from your
products or services
Of course the types of relationship differ (not all
are close proximity)
3.The third concept Provision (food
Shelter Clothing)
Every kingdom Work must bring
adequate and comfortable provision for
all those associated with it, it must
improve the lives of those connected to
it.
4.The Fourth concept is: Fruitful
Every kingdom Work must be
able to grow exponentially and
be really Fruitful, Beautiful &
Bountiful. (Influence & Impact)
5.The Fifth concept is: REST
Every kingdom work must understand the concept of rest
which goes beyond just taking a break but connotes
understanding your limits.
God limited His work so that there was something for Man
to do!
This deals with workaholics or being driven solely by profit.
This also deals with delegation.
It also deals with being comfortable to hire expertise and
not trying to do everything yourself.
-What really constitutes WORK in our lives
today?
-What can be described as actual Work?
-Are you really a Worker?
-What is the connection between Work and
Wealth?
Two meanings in the New Testament Greek
using the same English term Labour.
1. 873 κόπος kopos {kop'-os}
Meaning: A beating of the breast with grief,
sorrow, trouble intense labour united with
trouble and toil
2. 2041 ἔργον ergon {er'-gon}
Meaning: Business, employment, that with
which any one is occupied, that which one
undertakes to do, enterprise, any product
whatever, any thing accomplished by hand,
art, industry, or the mind, an act, deed, thing
done.
So correctly defined form a Kingdom
perspective work is:
THE EXPENDITURE OF PHYSICAL AND
MENTAL ENERGY TO PRODUCE SUSTENANCE
AND IMPACT CULTURE.
With TWO KEY attributes: SPECIALIZATION &
COOPERATION.
If this is carried out within the
confines of a Prophetic &
Proceeding Word, the
INEVITABLE OUTCOME IS
WEALTH.
RE-EMPHASIS: WORK & WEALTH
Defined within a Kingdom Context:
THE EXPENDITURE OF PHYSICAL AND
MENTAL ENERGY TO PRODUCE SUSTENANCE
AND IMPACT CULTURE.
With TWO KEY attributes: SPECIALIZATION &
COOPERATION, within the confines of a
Prophetic & Proceeding Word
Is what can correctly be defined as:

THE POWER TO PRODUCE

WEALTH.
