    When and How did it happen?

     It happened on the 26th of december.


     The quake caused the ocean floor to suddenly
    rise by as much as 40 meters, causing a massive
    tsunami.
    The tsunami
     The massive tsunami waves grew up to 30 meters high and
    it killed around 230.000 people in 14 countries, making it
    one of the deadliest natural disasters in history.
    The earthquake

     Theeartquake was the third largest ever


    recorded, and it had the longest duration
    beetwen 8-10 minutes.
     The plight of the affected people and countries prompted a
    worldwide humanitarian response, with donations more
    than US$14 billion.
     The tsunami’s waves traveled across the Indian Ocean at 500
    mph, the speed of a jet plane.
