What is a Volleyball?
VOLLEYBALL (HISTORY)
Volleyball is a team sport played with the
use of an inflated ball in a court separated
by a net.

It is a fast and skillful game for teams


comprising of six boys or girls.

The sport is played like tennis, but the


hand or fist is used to return the ball
instead of a racket.

What are the rules in
playing volleyball?
BASIC RULES OF
VOLLEYBALL
Each team is allowed to have a maximum of three hits to return the ball over
the net at the opponent’s court.
A rally continues until the ball hits the ground, goes out of bounds, or if a team
fails to return the ball successfully.
When a serving team wins a rally, it wins a point and continues to serve the
ball.
A player is allowed to use one or both hands in hitting the ball.
A player is not allowed to hit the ball twice in succession.
A foul is committed if any part of the hand or body of the player touches the
net.
How to score in volleyball?
SCORING IN VOLLEYBALL
 A team is given a point every time it wins a rally.
 When a serving team fails to score, a side-out is called and
the receiving team becomes the serving team.
 The team that first scores twenty-five points with a two
point advantage win a set. Three wins out of five sets
constitute a match.
