How it is extracted : The extraction of Sandalwood oil involves steam

distillation from the wood. The process entails chopping the wood into
pieces and subjecting it to steam heating within a still. As the steam
passes through a condenser it transforms into sandalwood oil.
Which part of plant is used : The sandalwood is the central part of the
tree with a characteristic fragrance. The oil extracted from this
sandalwood is referred to as the East Indian sandalwood oil and is used
in different health conditions. Also, the wood can be powdered and
used as well.
Which category of note it belongs :sandalwood, (genus Santalum),
genus of about 25 species of semiparasitic plants of the family
Santalaceae, especially the fragrant wood of the true, or white,
sandalwood, Santalum album. The group is distributed throughout
southeastern Asia, Australia, and islands of the South Pacific.
It’s nature of benefit : In the form of oil or powder, sandalwood is able
to sooth inflammatory skin conditions like eczema, dermatitis and
psoriasis, as well as calm irritated skin and flatten breakouts. In
Ayurvedic texts, it is known to relieve the pitta dosha, which means
that it has cooling properties.
Can it be used in beauty services : Is sandalwood good for skin? Yes, it
has many benefits when applied to the skin. It is used as a cosmetic to
prevent wrinkles, reduce acne, dark spots, and heal wounds. It is also
useful in skin conditions like psoriasis, eczema, Molluscum
