of food preservation and understand the importance
of preserving food.

B. Students will learn how to make a homemade


strawberry jam.
What is Food
Preservation?
Food preservation is the procedure by which food is
treated and handled to stop or slow down food spoilage,
loss of quality, edibility, or nutritional value and thus
allow for longer food storage.

Drying
Food preservation Food drying is a method of food preservation in which food is

methods enzymes to preserve the safety and quality of the food.
Ex: pickles, jam and canned fish

Food Food freezing is a food preservation process based on
preservation exposing food to temperatures below its freezing point,
turning it into ice and solidifying all the water or
methods moisture contained in the food. Ex: cheese, milk and
vegetables.

substances that could interfere with the preservation
process.

• Preserve the food using your desired method.

• Keep it in sealed packaging before storing it.
