ABSTRACT

 The Arduino-based Fire Fighting Robot with SMS Alert System is a robotic
system designed to detect and extinguish fires in indoor environments.

 The robot uses flame sensors to detect the presence of a fire. Once a fire is
detected, the robot moves towards the source of the fire and sprays water to
extinguish the flames.

 The robot is equipped with a GSM module that can send SMS messages to
alert the user when a fire is detected.

 The Robot is equipped with the Ultrasonic sensor which enables it to detect
the obstacles.
INTRODUCTION
 Fire safety is a matter of critical concern. Fires, both small and large, can
cause devastating harm to lives and property.
 Fires are unpredictable and can escalate rapidly, engulfing entire structures
and endangering lives within moments.
 The conventional methods of combating fires often rely on human
intervention, which can sometimes result in delays.
 Automation, combined with real-time communication, can significantly
enhance the ability to respond promptly and effectively to fires.
 An autonomous robot is a machine that can sense its surroundings, process
information to make decisions, and act in the real world.
 The robot can increase the safety, productivity, efficiency, and quality of
the fire safety. It is more compact and more flexible compared to other
robots.
LITERATURE SURVEY
fire fighting robot model (Tawfiqur Rakib, M. A. Rashid) :-
• Their model consists of a base platform made up of ‘Kerosene wood’, LM35 sensor for
temperature detection, flame sensors to detect the fire and a water container of 1 litre
capacity which is made up of a strong cardboard that makes it water resistant. The
robot has two wheels for its movement
Amphibious Autonomous Vehicle (Khaled Sailan, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Klaus-Dieter Kuhnert, Simon Hardt) :-
• In this robot, a fuzzy controller is used to avoid static obstacle in real time.It aims to
guide the robot or vehicle along its path avoiding all the obstacle that comes along the
path.
automatic fire fighting robot with notificationJ (Jalani1 , D Misman1 , A S Sadun1 and L C Hong) :-
• This robot consists of one flame sensor for fire detection in centre direction. When the
robot detects fire it also sends a warning notification to the user using bluetooth module
RESEARCH GAP
 Early Research shows that the models were using limited
range of 10-15 cm.
 Previous models lack the ability of obstacle detection but
this model surpassed that limitation.
 The Earlier models were not able to perform multitasking i.e.
fire fighting as well as obstacle detection at same time.
 The following studies models uses single sonsor which is
placed in the centre direction but this variant have three
sensor in left, right and centre directon for more effective
functionality.
 Also the robot can be further enhanced by coding so that it
can be operated by voice commands.

Ultrasonic sensor
Arduino UNO/NANO
 Arduino is an open-source platform used for building electronics projects.

 Arduino consists of both physical programmable circuit board and a piece

of software, or IDE (Integrated Development Environment) that runs on
our computer.

 It is used to write and upload computer code to the physical board.

 The Arduino UNO includes 6 analog pin inputs, 14 digital pins, a USB
connector, a power jack, and an ICSP (In-Circuit Serial Programming)
header.

 The input voltage of the UNO board varies from 7V to 20V

COMPONENTS USED

MQ-2 Gas SENSOR :-

• MQ2 gas sensor is an electronic sensor used for sensing the concentration of
gases in the air such as LPG, propane, methane, hydrogen, alcohol, smoke and
carbon monoxide. MQ2 gas sensor is also known as chemiresistor.
Flame sensor :-
• A flame detector is a type of sensor that can detect and respond to the
presence of a flame. These detectors have the ability to identify smokeless
liquid and smoke that can create open fire.
SIM 800L :-
• SIM800L is a miniature cellular module which allows for GPRS transmission,
sending and receiving SMS and making and receiving voice calls.
COMPONENTS USED

SERVO MOTOR :-
• The function of the servo motor is to convert the control signal of the
controller into the rotational angular displacement or angular velocity of the
motor output shaft.
Relay module :-
• The primary function of a relay module is to switch electrical devices or
systems on and off. It also serves to isolate control circuits, ensuring that
low-power devices, such as microcontrollers, can safely control higher
voltages and currents.
MOTOR DRIVER :-
• Motor driver is used to control motion of a motor and its direction by
feeding current accordingly.
COMPONENTS USED

LM2956 :-
• The LM2596 series of regulators are monolithic integrated circuits that provide all the active
functions for a step-down (buck) switching regulator, capable of driving a 3-A load with
excellent line and load regulation.
Ultrasonic sensor :-
• An ultrasonic sensor is an instrument that measures the distance to an object using ultrasonic
sound waves
BATTERY :-
• The main objective of a battery is to provide the power supply.
Waterpump :-
• The main purpose of a water pump is to transfer water between two points.

CONCLUSION
 This model of Fire Extinguishing Robot aids to share out the burden of fire fighters in

firefighting task.

 Our project aims to build a real time firefighting robot which moves in a constant speed,
identify the fire and then extinguish it with the help of pumping mechanism.

 The detection and extinguishing was done with the help basic hardware components

attached with the robot.

 Firstly, IR Flame sensors are used for the detection of fire. Secondly, BO Motors and
Rubber wheels are used to navigate the robot to reach the fireplace.

 Finally, the robot extinguishes the fire with the help of submersible water pump and

servo motors.
