Substance Volume Tracking:
In many countries, regulations state that, above a certain quantity of
chemicals and other hazardous substances, you must register with the
authorities the maximum quantities of these substances that you plan to
purchase, import, produce, sell, or export within a certain period.
Substance volume tracking helps you to comply with the relevant
regulations by recording the quantities of substances needing to be
tracked that you purchase, import, produce, sell, or export. By comparing
the recorded quantities with the limit values, the system can warn you in
good time before a limit value is exceeded; if a limit value is exceeded,
the system can also block the respective business process.
This means you can ensure that you stay below the quantity limits.
Features
The substance volume tracking supports the following functions:
•Compliance with legal regulations
•Evaluation of tracked quantities with traffic light status
•Support of quantity-dependent regulations
•Support of quantity-independent regulations
•Use
In the overview tree on the SAP Easy Access screen, choose SAP Menu Logistics Environment,
Health and Safety Product Safety Substance Volume Tracking
The Substance Volume Tracking node is expanded. The menu paths described in this application
help are based on navigation in the lower-level nodes
Substance volume tracking is integrated with the logistics processes for
purchasing, manufacturing, and sales.
It tracks, calculates, aggregates,
and monitors the imported, produced, and exported substance volumes
that result from these processes.
Features
•Substance volume tracking supports the following functions:Tracking volumes of
imported, exported, and produced substances on a legal entity level and based on
the relevant compliance requirements (regulations).
•Definition of legal entities and mapping manufacturing, supplying, or receiving
plants to these legal entities.
•Substance volume aggregation based on the tracking period of the relevant
compliance requirement version.
•Calculation of substance volume tracking status based on the aggregated volumes
and the thresholds in the respective compliance requirements.
•Monitoring substance volumes, providing detailed information about the
aggregated substance volumes, and tracing information back to the specific
logistics document via the Monitor Substance Volumes (F4693) app.
Definition: substance list
Environment, Health and Safety (EHS)
A register containing substances that display certain properties.
The substance list is compiled with a view to regulatory requirements.
Example

Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA)
MAK-List (TRGS 900). In Germany, this is a list of maximum workplace
concentrations and biological tolerance limits
