Introduction

• What is SAP?
• SAP stands for Systems Applications and Products.
• SAP, by definition, is also name of the ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software as well the name of the company.
• SAP system consist of a number of fully integrated modules, which covers virtually every aspect of business
management such as Sales and Distribution, Procurement of Goods and Services, Finance, Accounting, Human
Resources, Manufacturing, Production Planning, Logistics and Warehouse Management.

• SAP SE (SAP) is the largest multinational software company headquartered in Walldorf, Germany. SAP develop
enterprise applications to manage the connections with the consumers and also the operations in business. The
Business operates through two sections: Technology, Software & Services division, and also the SAP Business
Network section.

• The business has its own offices throughout the world. Now 46 years and more than 413,000+ customers, SAP is
fueled by the pioneering spirit that inspired its founders to transform the IT industry continually.

• SAP was launched in 1972 by five former IBM workers with a vision of developing standard application software since
its beginning SAP has issued a few releases, such as SAP R/3, SAP R/2, and SAP R/1. The R in these releases
represents "real-time" data processing. The 3 at the R/3 stands for a three-tier client-server architecture.

their size and strength.
• The ERP package is designed to support and integrate almost
every functional area of a business process.
• Business Process Integration (BPI):
• Every business, regardless of the industry they belong to,
require connected systems with efficient information flow from
one business process to another.
• Business Process Integration (BPI) allows automation of
business processes, integration of systems and services,
secure sharing of data across numerous applications and
automation of management, operational and supporting
process.

• SAP GUI Logon


• SAP Logon is used initiate a user session in a desired SAP Server. The same SAP Logon pad can be used to login into
different SAP ERP environments. SAP Logon is a client side software usually used by Consultants, developers and
end-users.
• To access SAP Logon double click on the following icon

• Following screen will be prompted with a list of servers

• Select the server and click the Log On Button. In the next
screen, enter your user id and password. You are taken
to Sap's easy access menu.

• At the top, you will see the menu bar. Next you will see
the standard tool bar where you options to Print , Save
Find , Scroll etc.

• To view or maintain any data in SAP or access different business process you need to know the corresponding
transaction. Every transaction has a unique code.
• For example, transaction number to maintain a Material data is MM02.
• To access the transaction, in the command prompt enter MM02 and hit enter.

• When you logon to SAP or you open a new session you will
see the following screen.

• SAP Easy Access Menu


• The SAP Easy Access Menu includes all transactions offered by SAP, grouped in folders according to SAP modules
(FI/CO, MM, etc.).

• SAP Standard Tool Bar


• The SAP Standard Toolbar does NOT change from one transaction to another.
• Buttons available are enabled
• Buttons not available are disabled
• In the "Transaction Box", you can directly access a transaction, without using the SAP Menu, by entering the
transaction code.

• SAP Status Bar


• The SAP Status Bar does not change from one screen to another. It tells you where you are in SAP:
• Which environment you are using (Production , Development , Quality).
• In which session you are in (as you can open up to 6 sessions).
• What client you are using.

• Clicking on button gives you more information.

• How to get Help in SAP


• You can access in-built SAP Help functionality for any screen element (like text fields , buttons ,labels etc.) for any SAP
screen.

• You can access help in three different ways:


1. Clicking on the "Help" button.
2. Right-clicking on your mouse and selecting "Help".
3. Pressing the F1 button on your keyboard.
• A Performance Assistance Screen Opens.

• Favorites Menu
• In SAP you can have a list of favorites transactions that are mainly used on a daily basis; this avoid the necessity of
remember several transaction codes.
• For adding a Favorite follow below steps:
• In SAP main screen make a right click on Favorites menu

• Select Insert transaction and the following screen must appear

• Enter transaction code to be added and hit Enter

• Transaction MM02 was added successfully to Favorites list

• User Default Values


• Defaults are set when an SAP user profile is created. Most of these you should not change unless your business
position or location has changed. It is important that the user defaults are correct in SAP, as SAP uses them in a
number of reports and business transactions.

• Address: This screen shows personal data such as MIT address, MIT phone, etc.

• Defaults: This screen shows the defaults that were set up when your SAP profile was created. Most of these you should
not change. The settings on this screen include the Start menu and your printer name. Other settings include the date
format and decimal notation.

• Parameters: This screen shows default field data entries and screens used when working in SAP. You can specify a
default entry for some fields where you frequently enter the same data.

• ALV Reporting
• ALV stands for ABAP List Viewer. ALV gives us a standard List format and user interface to all our reports.
• ALV provides a lot of inbuilt functions to our reports and some of the functions are listed below:
• Sorting of records
• Filtering of records
• Totals and Sub-totals
• Download the report output to Excel/HTML
• Changing the order of the columns in the report
• Hide the unwanted columns from the report

• System based colors screen


• As part of the functionalities that SAP gives for the end-user; it is possible to change the colors between systems, this
is used mainly to avoid errors when performing actions on the system.

• SAP Fiori
• SAP Fiori is a set of apps, newly written by SAP, that address the most broadly and frequently used SAP functions,
such as workflow approvals, information lookups, and self-service tasks. They provide simple and easy-to-use access
across desktops, tablets, and smartphones.
• Fiori is more than just a new user interface. It is a set of cross-device applications that, among other things, allow users
to start a process on their desktop and continue it on a tablet or smartphone. SAP is developing its Fiori apps on its
latest user interface framework, SAPUI5.
• SAP lists three types of Fiori apps:
• Transactional apps, which allow users to perform SAP transactions on mobile devices as well as desktops. For
instance, there is a transactional app for creating a leave of absence request and another for approving a
purchase order.
• Fact sheets, which display information about key business objects in SAP. For example, there is a fact-sheet app
for viewing a central purchase contract; it allows users to also drill down into related entities, such as vendor
contacts, items under contract, and terms.
• Analytical apps, which allow users to display key performance measures and other aggregate information about
the business.
