Chaos Theory

 Définition
 Chaos theory is a branch of mathematics focusing on the study of chaos
dynamical systems whose apparently random states of disorder and irregularities are
actually governed by underlying patterns and deterministic laws that are highly sensitive
to initial conditions. Chaos theory is an interdisciplinary theory stating that, within the
apparent randomness of chaotic complex systems, there are underlying patterns,
interconnectedness, constant feedback loops, repetition, self-similarity, fractals, and
self-organization.
 Economics

 It is possible that economic models can also be improved through an application of chaos theory,
but predicting the health of an economic system and what factors influence it most is an extremely
complex task.Economic and financial systems are fundamentally different from those in the
classical natural sciences since the former are inherently stochastic in nature, as they result from
the interactions of people, and thus pure deterministic models are unlikely to provide accurate
representations of the data. The empirical literature that tests for chaos in economics and finance
presents very mixed results, in part due to confusion between specific tests for chaos and more
general tests for non-linear relationships.
 Biology

 For over a hundred years, biologists have been keeping track of populations of different species
with population models. Most models are continuous, but recently scientists have been able to
implement chaotic models in certain populations. For example, a study on models of Canadian lynx
showed there was chaotic behavior in the population growth. Chaos can also be found in
ecological systems, such as hydrology. While a chaotic model for hydrology has its shortcomings,
there is still much to learn from looking at the data through the lens of chaos theory.[114] Another
biological application is found in cardiotocography. Fetal surveillance is a delicate balance of
obtaining accurate information while being as noninvasive as possible. Better models of warning
signs of fetal hypoxia can be obtained through chaotic modeling.
