INSPIRING AND LIFE-CHANGING

Youth Worship Services

OBJECTIVES:
• Reflected on the importance of the youth worship
service to the NXA ministry
• Discussed principles on what makes the Youth
Worship Service dynamic, inspiring, and life
changing.
• Discussed needed volunteer teams that can support the
youth worship service.
• Discussed plans to set up the Youth Worship Service.
Having a consistent Youth worship service is a must for
NXA. When a worship service is designed specifically
for the next generation, it provides a powerful platform
for reaching, teaching, and empowering them. The
purpose is not simply to hold worship sessions, but to
have space where they can be inspired and experience
life-changing encounters with God and his people.
ESSENTIALS OF AN NXA
YOUTH
Youth Service

1
I. EXCELLENT AND CREATIVE
PROGRAMMING
Excellent and creative youth worship services do not
happen by accident. Planning and attention to detail make
the services impactful to the next generation. Here are
some pointers on how to plan for the youth worship
services:

1
Consider Yearly Calendar and
Social Trends
Be up to date with school calendars, special holidays, seasonal celebrations
and social trends. Use these to make your services special by creating a
theme around such events and seasons. This will make the worship services
relatable and attractive
Let your Youth Leaders take
the lead
• They know their generation best. Do not be afraid to trust them and
jump on their ideas. Involve them in the process of planning and
executing desired worship service. This creates ownership and makes
ideas fresh.
Map out Your Program Flow
• The Lord blesses preparation. Make every segment of the program
flow to the other.
Pay attention
to details
Small details make big impact. Sample questions you need to
answer that will make you think about details: How will people to
be greeted? How is the worship hall/room set up? How does it
look? (e.g decorations, props) ? What signs will they read? The
small details make the youth service unique and different.
II. PASSIONATE PRAISE AND
WORSHIP SETS
Songs have always been a strong influence over young
people. Use the praise and worship sets for them to express
and cultivate a heart of surrender, devotion and love for
Jesus.

1
Choose your song
Carefully and Prayerfully

As the Holy Spirit leads, curate the songs to be sung in the youth
services. Hand-picked songs can teach and develop a heart of worship.
Prepare an initial list for the worship team to choose from.
Make sure the worship team has the
mastery of the song
Mastery in playing the songs keeps worshippers focused on Jesus.
If the worship team is busy trying to play their instruments
correctly, they fail to worship fully.
Model a worshippers heart
Passionate worship should be modeled by pastors and leaders.
Everything starts and ends with leadership. Be the culture you want
to see.
NOTE:
Do not fall into the trap thinking that new songs are not as good as
the old ones. The music genre of every generation differ, choose
songs with strong messages not just good melody and musicianship.
III. RELEVANT BIBLICAL
MESSAGES
Sanctify them by the truth; your Word is truth” [John
17:17] It is the word of God that brings transformation.
The word should always be preached uncompromisingly
with depth and conviction. It is through the word that
maturity comes.

1
UNDERSTAND
The Audience
• Know your audience, their age, their background, the social issues
they face, the personal issues they struggle with. Having a good
understanding of the audience helps in the making of a relevant
message.
PREACH the word
• It is through hearing the word of God (Bible) that faith comes.
Make sure the word being preached is biblical and that it is
delivered creatively and effectively in such a way that it is hard to
miss. Make use of illustrations and utilize technology to get the
message across.
CALL to action
• There should always be a time given for the young people to
respond to the message. This can be done through a challenge, an
altar call, singing a specific song, group discussions, etc. Asking
for a response helps drive the word deep into their hearts and
mind..
IV. FOSTER RELATIONSHIPS
Youth worship services should be a place where people
know they are welcomed, and they belong. People go
where they are celebrated. Make best effort to have
everyone know and feel they are part of the family. After
the program is done, personal ministry begins.

1
GENUINELY CONNECTwith people
• Intentionally build a culture where people connect and have
conversations before and after the worship service. Serving food
before or after the service helps keep them for a few more minutes
to get to know each other and build stronger bonds.
PERSONALLY MINISTER to people
• Leaders should be instructed to take time to personally follow up
on people and pray for them before they leave the worship service.
Leaders are also set up to attend to first time attendees and plug
them into small groups or schedule for consolidation meet ups.
FRIENDSHIP IS WHAT
make people stay
• Fostering relationships should not be delegated to chance. It should
be intentionally worked on. This will be the net that will keep the
harvest.
