 The Story of Arachne and Athena is authored by
Ovid. In this story, he describes a young woman
who was good at weaving and became boastful
of her talent after being praised by many people.

SETTING OF THE STORY


 The story takes place in a small village in Greece.
Many people travel in a long distances just to see her
creations at her loom.

CONFLICT OF THE STORY


 Due to many people praising her
because of her talent in weaving, she
became brag and boastful. She didn’t
acknowledge that her talent was given
by Athena, the god of wisdom.

IMPORTANT EVENTS OF THE


STORY
 Old Woman transformed back into the
magnificent goddess—Athena, but Arachne
didn’t impressed. All village people gathered
around the goddess and fell to their knees to
honor her.
 Arachne and Athena had a contest to prove
who is a better weaver.

RESOLUTION OF THE STORY


 Athena was enraged after she saw how Arachne
depicted gods. She was even more infuriated
when she realized that her work was just slightly
better than Arachne. Because of Athena’s anger,
she magically turn Arachne into a spider. At the
end, no one would cared about Arachne’s talent
because she bacame spider and when people
saw her woven web, they will destroyed it.
