What is Language?
Language
• helps us express our feelings and thoughts —
this is unique to our species because it is a way
to express unique ideas and customs within
different cultures and societies.
Importance of Language
Communication:
Language allows individuals to convey thoughts,
ideas, and emotions effectively. Example: Speaking
with friends to make plans for the weekend.
Understanding:
It enables comprehension of
complex concepts, instructions, and
information.
Example: Reading a book to gain knowledge
about a specific topic.
Expression:
Language provides a means for self-expression
and creativity.
Example: Writing poetry to express emotions.
Social Interaction:
It facilitates interaction with others, fostering relationships
and connections.
Example: Engaging in conversation at a social gathering.
Cultural Preservation:
Language preserves cultural heritage and traditions through
storytelling, songs, and literature.
Example:
Learning traditional folk songs to preserve cultural identity.
