Week 1
Task: classroom interaction: getting to know my classmates
Purpose: to use greetings and farewells in formal and informal contexts and to ask for
and provide basic personal information
Context: It is your first day at the university. In the English class, you have a conversation
with your new classmates to meet them.
In the conversation you must:
- use formal or informal greetings to say hello,
- introduce yourself,
- ask for and give personal information (name, last name, age, place of origin,
neighborhood, etc.),
- and use formal or informal farewells to finish the conversation.

Listen and read the dialogues A–D.
Match them to pictures 1–4.
Listen and choose the correct response: A, B, or C.
Match the greetings and questions with the responses.
Complete the greeting and introduction expressions
with the words from the box.
In pairs, complete the dialogue using the language from the previous exercises
and your own personal information. Then, practice the conversation with your
partner.
