Title of the doctoral dissertation: Structural studies of two-component
signal transduction systems in bacteria Escherichia coli
Two-component signal transduction systems (TCSs) are cell signaling
circuits that take part in adaptation to environmental changes, regulation of metabolism pathways, virulence, antibiotic resistance, and many other processes. Studies on the Escherichia coli TCSs provide the data essential to understand the relations between basic biological processes of a model organism and its external conditions. The knowledge about protein structures gives a unique opportunity to explore mechanisms which regulate the phosphorelay pathway of two-component systems and their role in gene expression. The aim of the study is to determine structures of two Escherichia coli TCSs, which are involved in response to the presence of hydrogen peroxide, copper or another metals in cel environment.
